Common Questions About Our Walks
Everything you need to know about exploring Roundstone and Clifden at your own pace
Absolutely. Our routes are designed specifically for walkers who want a leisurely pace without strenuous exertion. The Roundstone Harbour Walk is just 2 miles with virtually no elevation gain, and we build in plenty of opportunities to stop for a rest and a chat at local cafés along the way.
The Roundstone walk takes about 2–2.5 hours at a comfortable pace, including time to explore the boatyard and village streets. The Clifden Sky Road is roughly 3 hours with natural rest points at the best viewpoints. We never rush—breaks are built into every itinerary, and you can stop whenever you'd like to catch your breath or simply enjoy the scenery.
Wear comfortable walking shoes with good grip (Connemara weather changes quickly), layers you can add or remove, and waterproof outerwear. Bring water, a light snack, and sun protection. We'll give you a full packing list when you book, tailored to the season.
The Roundstone walk is almost entirely flat on village streets and coastal paths—no steps or steep climbs. The Clifden Sky Road is mostly level as well, though there are a few gentle inclines when moving between viewpoints. Both routes are on established paths with solid footing, and we avoid any terrain that's difficult to navigate.
You're welcome to join as a solo walker—many of our guests prefer exploring at their own rhythm. We also run scheduled group walks where you'll meet fellow walkers with similar interests. Either way, you'll have our local knowledge and support throughout.
We monitor weather closely and won't set out in unsafe conditions. If conditions deteriorate during a walk, we can shorten the route or head to a nearby village for shelter. Connemara weather is changeable, but we're experienced at adapting plans to keep you safe and comfortable.
